Weak Rankings
What it does
Fetches a competitor's rankings, the links to every ranking page and the SERP around the best ones, and shows where a page built for the search can beat them. Every number is measured by DataForSEO, and the score is calculated by fixed rules.
Keyword tools show difficulty, not where the competitor is weak
Large sites rank for many searches with pages that were never built for them: an old forum thread, a category page, a file. The page ranks on the strength of the domain. A KD number says nothing about that, so the opportunities go unnoticed.
- KD measures the whole SERP, not the one weak page
- Accidental rankings are invisible without link counts per URL
- Isolated keywords with no connection give you no plan
- You do not know which page you actually have to beat
See which rankings rest on the domain, not on the page
Weak Rankings fetches the competitor's top-10 rankings, measures referring domains to every ranking URL and checks the SERP around the best ones. Each ranking gets a score from 0 to 100 that is the sum of named factors, so you see exactly why it is weak.
- Referring domains per ranking URL, not just for the domain
- Keywords missing from the title, forums in the top 5 and weak neighbouring pages
- Clusters of keywords that rank with the same page
- Pages to create with primary keyword, supporting keywords, slug and the page to beat
Features
- Measured rankings, search volume and link counts from DataForSEO
- Explainable score: every factor is shown with its contribution
- Clusters per ranking page, sorted by strength
- Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland
How it works
- Enter the domain of a large competitor in your niche and pick a market
- The tool fetches the rankings, the links to each page and the SERP around the best ones
- Get clusters, keyword opportunities, pages to create and an action plan
Use cases
- Niche sites looking for searches they can win without many links
- Content teams that want to build clusters around weak competitor pages
- Agencies that need a reasoned content plan for a client
Why look for weak rankings?
A strong domain can rank with a page that was never meant for the search. When the page has no links of its own, does not use the keyword and sits among forum threads, the domain is carrying it. A page built precisely for the search then has a real chance.
The tool looks for patterns, not single keywords. If one weak page ranks for several related searches, that is a cluster you can take with one well-planned page, and often more around it.
The score is open. You see which factors push it up and down, so you can judge each opportunity yourself instead of trusting a number you cannot verify.
FAQ
- What is a weak ranking?
- A ranking where the competitor's page has few or no referring domains, was not built for the keyword and sits in a SERP with other weak results. The page ranks mostly because of the domain.
- How is the score calculated?
- It is the sum of fixed factors, for example a plus when the URL has 0 referring domains and a minus for searches on the competitor's own brand, capped at 0–100. Every factor is shown next to the score. No AI is involved.
- Where does the data come from?
- From DataForSEO: rankings and search volume from Labs, referring domains from the Backlinks API and SERPs from the SERP API. The top-10 average carries the provider's own date, which is shown in the report.
- How does this differ from Content Gap?
- Content Gap compares your domain with a competitor's and shows searches they have that you lack. Weak Rankings does not need your domain: it looks at where the competitor's ranking page is weak.
- Which markets are supported?
- Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
