Dns Lookup

What it does

Retrieves DNS records (A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, TXT, NS) for a domain. Useful for troubleshooting and domain verification.

DNS problems are invisible — your website can be down, email can fail, or SSL can be misconfigured without you knowing why

DNS is the internet phone book — it translates domain names to IP addresses. When DNS is misconfigured, your website can be unreachable, emails can disappear, SSL certificates can fail, and domain verification for Google Search Console or other services can fail. The problem is that DNS errors are invisible to regular users — all you see is that "something is not working", without knowing that the cause lies in the DNS configuration.

Complete DNS lookup showing all records for a domain — so you can diagnose problems in seconds

DNS Lookup retrieves all DNS records for a domain instantly — A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, TXT, NS, SOA and CAA. You get a complete overview of the domain DNS configuration presented in a readable format, so you can quickly identify misconfigurations, missing records or propagation issues. Perfect for troubleshooting, domain verification and security checks.

Features

How it works

  1. Enter the domain name you want to investigate — the tool retrieves all DNS records instantly from authoritative name servers
  2. See all DNS records presented in a tidy overview with record type, value, TTL and explanations — misconfigurations are highlighted automatically
  3. Use the information to diagnose problems, verify domain ownership or check that DNS changes have propagated correctly

Use cases

Why use DNS Lookup?

DNS is the foundation for everything on the internet — websites, email, SSL certificates and domain verification all depend on correct DNS configuration. When something goes wrong, DNS lookup is the first step in troubleshooting, and DNS Lookup makes this instant and clear.

For web developers and IT administrators the tool is a daily work tool. Whether you are migrating a website to a new server, setting up email security or troubleshooting an SSL problem, you need quick access to DNS records without opening the terminal and typing dig/nslookup commands.

The email security analysis is especially valuable. With increasing email spoofing and phishing, correct SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration is critical. DNS Lookup identifies these records automatically and gives you an assessment of whether email security is sufficient.

FAQ

What is DNS?
DNS (Domain Name System) is the internet phone book. It translates domain names like "example.com" to IP addresses like "93.184.216.34" so your browser knows which server to contact. Without DNS you would have to remember IP addresses for all websites.
How long does DNS propagation take?
DNS propagation typically takes 1-48 hours, depending on the TTL value of the old record. Most changes propagate within 1-4 hours, but in the worst case it can take up to 48 hours before all DNS servers globally have updated.
What is the difference between an A record and CNAME?
An A record points a domain directly to an IP address (e.g. 93.184.216.34). A CNAME record points a domain to another domain (e.g. www.example.com → example.com). CNAME is useful for subdomains and services like Vercel, Netlify and CloudFront.
Why are SPF, DKIM and DMARC important?
These TXT records protect your domain against email spoofing. SPF specifies which servers are allowed to send email from your domain. DKIM cryptographically signs emails. DMARC tells recipients what to do with emails that fail the SPF/DKIM check.
