Pdf Splitter
What it does
Splits a PDF file into separate documents by page number or page ranges. Processed locally.
You only need some pages from a large PDF — but extracting them requires expensive software or insecure web services
Large PDF documents often contain more than you need. A 50-page report where you only need chapter 3, a scanned book where you need pages 15-20, or a contract where you must send only the signature page to a third party. Splitting PDFs requires either Adobe Acrobat Pro or free web services that upload your documents to unknown servers — both are problematic for sensitive documents.
- Large PDFs are impractical to share — sending a 50-page report when the recipient only needs 5 pages is a waste of bandwidth and the recipient time
- Sensitive pages must be isolated — when sending a contract to a third party, you may want to send only the signature page without exposing the rest of the agreement
- Scanned documents need splitting — a scanned book or folder of 200 pages often needs to be split into individual chapters or documents for archiving
- Free web services are insecure — uploading contracts, medical documents or financial reports to unknown servers to split them is a security risk
Split PDF files directly in the browser — choose pages, ranges or split per page — entirely local and secure
PDF Splitter splits PDF files into separate documents directly in your browser. Choose specific pages, page ranges or split the entire document into individual pages — all without the file leaving your machine. The tool shows a thumbnail view of all pages so you can choose exactly the pages you need, and downloads the result as separate PDF files or a ZIP file.
- Local processing: all splitting happens in the browser — no files are uploaded to servers, perfect for sensitive documents like contracts and financial reports
- Flexible splitting: choose specific pages (1, 3, 5), page ranges (1-10, 15-20), or split the entire document into individual pages — full control over the result
- Visual page selector: see thumbnails of all pages in the PDF and click to select the ones you want to extract — no guessing about which page is which
- Multiple output formats: download selected pages as a single PDF, as separate PDF files or as a ZIP file with all parts — adapted to your need
Features
- Visual page selector: see thumbnails of all pages and click to select — much easier than guessing page numbers in a large document
- Page ranges: type page ranges like "1-5, 8, 12-15" to extract exactly the pages you need in one document
- Split per page: split the entire PDF into individual pages — perfect for archiving scanned documents where each page is a separate document
- ZIP download: when splitting into multiple documents, you get everything collected in a ZIP file — tidy and easy to handle
How it works
- Upload the PDF file you want to split — the tool shows thumbnails of all pages so you can see the content
- Select specific pages, type page ranges or choose "split per page" to split the entire document
- Download the selected pages as a new PDF, as separate files or as a ZIP file — all processed locally
Use cases
- Office workers who need to send only relevant pages from a large report or contract to colleagues or clients without exposing the rest of the document
- Lawyers and legal professionals who must isolate specific pages from contracts, agreements or legal documents to share with counterparts or courts
- Students who need to extract specific chapters from textbooks or research articles to create compact study folders
Why use PDF Splitter?
PDF splitting is the natural counterpart to PDF merging — and equally common in daily work. Whether you need to isolate specific pages, reduce file size for email or archive individual documents from a scanned folder, PDF Splitter is the fastest and most secure alternative.
Security is critical when working with sensitive documents. When sharing a contract with a third party, you may want to send only the signature page — not the entire agreement with confidential terms. PDF Splitter lets you do this without the document leaving your machine.
The visual page selector makes the tool intuitive and error-proof. Instead of guessing page numbers in a large document, you see thumbnails of all pages and click on the ones you want. No risk of extracting the wrong pages.
FAQ
- Are my files safe?
- Yes, all processing happens locally in your browser. No files are uploaded to servers. You can safely split contracts, financial documents and other sensitive files without privacy concerns.
- Can I extract non-contiguous pages?
- Yes, you can select any pages — e.g. pages 1, 5, 8 and 12 — and get them collected in one new PDF document. You do not need to select contiguous page ranges.
- Is the quality preserved?
- Yes, the tool extracts pages without recompressing or changing the content. Images, text, links and formatting are preserved exactly as in the original — no quality loss.
- How large files can the tool handle?
- Most machines handle PDFs up to 50-100 MB without problems. For extremely large files the thumbnail view may take somewhat longer, but the actual splitting works fast.
