Uuid Generator

What it does

Creates UUID v4 strings for use in databases, APIs and systems. Generate one or multiple at once.

You need unique identifiers for databases, APIs and systems — but generating them manually is tedious and error-prone

UUIDs (Universally Unique Identifiers) are the standard for unique identifiers in modern software. They are used in databases, APIs, distributed systems, session handling and much more. The problem is that you need them often — for testing, prototyping, configuration and development — but generating them requires either code, command-line tools or ad-filled websites. For developers who need 10-50 UUIDs to seed a database or test an API, it is unnecessary friction.

Generate UUID v4 strings instantly — one or hundreds at once, in the format you need

UUID Generator creates cryptographically random UUID v4 strings in milliseconds. Generate a single UUID or hundreds at once for bulk needs. Choose format — with or without hyphens, uppercase or lowercase — and copy directly to clipboard or export as list. Perfect for developers, testers and anyone who needs unique identifiers quickly.

Features

How it works

  1. Choose the number of UUIDs you need (1-1000) and desired format — standard, compact, uppercase or lowercase
  2. Click "Generate" and get the UUIDs immediately — cryptographically random and guaranteed unique
  3. Copy a single UUID or the entire list to clipboard — or export as JSON, CSV or text file

Use cases

Why use UUID Generator?

UUIDs are the universal standard for unique identifiers in modern software. From databases to APIs, from session handling to distributed systems — UUIDs are everywhere. UUID Generator gives you instant access to as many as you need, in the format you need.

Bulk generation saves enormous time. When setting up a test database with 100 records, you need 100 unique UUIDs. Generating them one at a time with code or command line takes minutes — with UUID Generator it takes seconds.

Correct format prevents bugs. A UUID with wrong format — missing hyphen, wrong number of characters, invalid version number — can cause subtle bugs that are hard to debug. The tool guarantees all UUIDs are correctly formatted and RFC 4122 compatible.

FAQ

Are the UUIDs truly unique?
Yes, UUID v4 uses cryptographically random generation with 2^122 possible combinations (5.3 x 10^36). The probability of a collision is so low it is practically zero — you can generate 1 billion UUIDs per second for 85 years before you have a 50% chance of a duplicate.
What is the difference between UUID v1 and v4?
UUID v1 uses timestamp and MAC address — deterministic but reveals machine info. UUID v4 is completely random — no information can be derived from the value. V4 is the standard for most modern applications.
Can I use UUIDs as primary key in the database?
Yes, UUIDs are excellent as primary keys — especially in distributed systems where auto-increment can cause conflicts. The downside is they take more space (16 bytes vs 4-8 bytes for integer) and are slower to index.
Are my UUIDs stored?
No, all UUIDs are generated locally in your browser and never sent to a server. They only exist in your browser until you copy them.
