Content Silo Planner — User Guide
What is Content Silo Planner?
Content Silo Planner visualizes your website's silo structure based on sitemap data. It shows silo depth, compares coverage against a competitor, and recommends which silos you should prioritize for content production.
Unlike the Topical Authority Gap Analyzer (which uses AI classification), Content Silo Planner builds the silo tree directly from URL structure. This gives a realistic picture of how search engines actually perceive your hierarchy.
How to use the tool
1. Fill in the form
- Your Domain: The domain you want to analyze (e.g. "nordicpulse.ai")
- Competitor Domain (optional): The domain you want to compare against
2. Start the analysis
Click "Analyze silo structure". The tool will:
- Fetch the sitemap from your domain
- Build a silo tree based on URL segments (e.g.
/blog/seo/technical-seo→ blog → seo → technical-seo) - If a competitor is specified: fetch the competitor's sitemap and count articles per silo
- Calculate coverage ratios per silo
- Use AI to prioritize and recommend
Analysis typically takes 15–40 seconds.
3. Read the results
The report has three tabs:
Silo Tree tab
- Visual tree structure with main silos and sub-silos
- Article count per silo
- Click a silo to see sub-silos and article details
Comparison tab
- Bar charts comparing your articles vs. the competitor's per silo
- Color-coded status indicators (Ahead / Behind / Even / Missing)
Prioritization tab
- AI-ranked silos with priority level (Critical / High / Medium / Low)
- Reasoning for each prioritization
- Suggested number of new articles per silo
Stat cards
- Total Pages: Content pages found in the sitemap
- Silos: Number of main silos identified
- Behind Competitor: Silos where you have weaker coverage
- Missing Silos: Silos the competitor has that you don't
Cost
20 credits per analysis. Sitemap crawl + AI prioritization.
Tips
- A well-structured website with clear URL paths produces the best results
- If the sitemap is missing, add
/sitemap.xmlto your website - Use the competitor comparison to discover "blind spots" in your content strategy
- Silos with many articles but no sub-silos may indicate a need for better categorization
- Export to CSV and share with the content team as a production plan
