What is Content Velocity Monitor?
Content Velocity Monitor measures how quickly your domain publishes and updates content. AI search engines like Google AI Overviews and Perplexity prefer fresh, actively maintained content when selecting sources to cite. This tool gives you an overview of publishing speed, content freshness, and competitor comparison.
How to use the tool
Step 1: Enter primary domain
Type the domain you want to analyze, e.g. example.com.
Step 2: Enter competitors (optional)
Enter up to 3 competitor domains, one per line. Competitors are analyzed via sitemap for comparison.
Step 3: Choose report language
Select Norwegian or English for AI-generated insights and recommendations.
Step 4: Run the analysis
Click "Analyze content velocity" (25 credits). The tool fetches the sitemap and samples pages for dates.
Understanding the report
Velocity Score (0-100)
- 75-100: Excellent — high publishing frequency and fresh content
- 50-74: Good — solid publishing pace, some stale content
- 25-49: Needs improvement — low frequency or much stale content
- 0-24: Poor — infrequent publishing and aging content base
Key metrics
- Publications/month: Average new/updated pages per month over the last 6 months
- Fresh content: Percentage updated in the last 90 days
- Stale content: Percentage not updated in 180+ days
- Average age: Average content age in days
Publishing frequency chart
Shows number of publications per month over the last 12 months.
Competitor comparison
Table overview with publishing frequency, average age, freshness ratio, and total pages for you and competitors.
Most recent content
Clickable list of the 20 most recently updated pages with age in days.

How is the data collected?
- Sitemap — Fetches
sitemap.xml(or sitemap index) to find all pages with lastmod dates - Page sampling — Fetches up to 20 pages to find

FAQ
What if the domain doesn't have a sitemap? The tool requires a sitemap to function. Domains without sitemap.xml will show an error message.
Why are some pages without dates? Not all pages have publication dates in the sitemap or HTML. The "Pages with dates" metric shows the coverage.
Can I compare with more than 3 competitors? No, the limit is 3 competitors per analysis to keep analysis time reasonable.
