Coordinate Sentry
Coordinate Sentry is a change log for your Google Business Profile location. Each time you check, the location is fetched from Google's API, a snapshot is stored, and differences against the previous observation are logged field by field: coordinates (with distance in meters), address, primary category, opening hours and photo count. Everything is real data from Google's API; no AI involved.
The tool is honest about what a log line means: that a field differed between two observations. It does not know who changed the field or whether the change was approved; GBP profiles are also changed by Google itself and by public "suggest an edit" contributions.
Who it's for
Anyone who lives off local visibility and wants to discover that the pin position, category or opening hours changed, before customers do.
Prerequisites
- Google Business Profile connected (the OAuth connection in settings)
- Checks currently deduct no credits
Step by step
- Pick a location; with only one, it is selected automatically.
- Press "Check now". The first check establishes the baseline; later checks show changes.
- For a change you made yourself, use the "This was me" acknowledgment so the log stays meaningful.
Reading the results
- The Observation tab shows the outcome of the latest check and the fields being tracked. "Not counted" for photos means the number could not be fetched, never that it is zero.
- The Changes tab shows before and after per field; coordinate changes include the distance in meters (changes under half a meter are ignored as GPS noise).
- The Alerts tab is currently disabled and says so plainly: the log must be checked manually until notifications are wired up.
Common problems
- "GBP not connected": connect the Google account with access to the profile first.
- "No observation stored": the read against Google failed; try again shortly.
Limitations
- Google Business Profile only; Apple and Bing are not covered.
- One location is checked at a time; the change log shows the latest 50 changes.
- Checks are manual today; automatic monitoring is prepared but not switched on.
