Internal Link Auditor — User Guide
What is Internal Link Auditor?
Internal Link Auditor maps the internal link structure of your website. It crawls pages from the sitemap, analyzes which pages link to each other, finds orphan pages (pages with no incoming links), and generates concrete linking suggestions with anchor text.
The tool gives you a complete picture of how internal "link equity" is distributed across your site and where you're losing SEO value.
How to use the tool
1. Fill in the form
- Your Domain: The domain you want to audit (e.g. "nordicpulse.ai")
2. Start the audit
Click "Start audit". The tool will:
- Fetch the sitemap and identify content pages (max 100 pages)
- Crawl each page via proxy to fetch HTML
- Extract all internal links from each page
- Calculate incoming links (inlinks) per page
- Identify orphan pages (0 incoming links)
- Use AI to suggest linking fixes and opportunities
Analysis typically takes 30–120 seconds depending on the number of pages.
3. Read the results
The report has four tabs:
Orphans tab
Pages that no other pages link to. For each orphan page you'll see:
- Page title and URL
- Page type (blog, service, category, etc.)
- Suggested link target (which page should link here)
- Suggested anchor text
Opportunities tab
AI-generated linking opportunities between existing pages:
- Source page and target page with titles
- Suggested anchor text
- Reasoning for why the link should exist
- Priority (High / Medium / Low)
Most Linked tab
The 10 pages with the most incoming internal links. These pages receive the most internal "link equity".
Least Linked tab
The 10 pages with the fewest incoming links (excluding the homepage). These pages need more internal links.
Stat cards
- Total Pages: Number of pages crawled
- Internal Links: Total number of internal links discovered
- Orphan Pages: Pages with no incoming links
- Avg Links/Page: Average number of outgoing internal links per page
What makes a good internal link structure?

|---|---|---|---|
| Orphan pages | > 20% | 5–20% | < 5% |
| Avg internal links/page | < 3 | 3–10 | > 10 |
| Max inlinks on one page | > 50% of total | 20–50% | < 20% |
Cost
30 credits per audit. Sitemap crawl + page crawl (up to 100 pages) + AI suggestions.
Tips
- Fix orphan pages first — they're invisible to search engines that follow links
- Pages with many outgoing links but few incoming ones may indicate structural issues
- Use anchor text suggestions as-is, or adapt them to your tone
- Pages under "Least Linked" are often good candidates for adding contextual links
- Run the audit after major content publications to ensure new pages get linked to
- Combine with Content Silo Planner to ensure your link structure follows your silos
