Knowledge Distiller

Knowledge Distiller turns a PDF or a web page into a structured summary: key points, concepts ranked by importance, and a concept diagram you can paste into your own documents. Alternatively it builds a five-question quiz from the same content, for training or self-testing.

The text extraction is real: web pages are fetched server-side, and PDFs are parsed by our document engine. The analysis layered on top is AI-generated with Gemini, explicitly instructed to stick to what the source actually says. Feed it thin text and the summary will be correspondingly thin.

Who this tool is for

Anyone who needs to digest reports, documentation or long articles quickly — or spin up a quick quiz from a reference document for their team.

Prerequisites

• Signed-in account (starter tier in the catalog)
• 15 credits per run; quiz mode costs the same
• A publicly reachable URL or a PDF file

How to use it

1. Pick a mode: summary (dashboard) or quiz.
2. Paste the URL, or upload the PDF.
3. Confirm the run in the credit dialog.
4. For quizzes: answer the questions and see your score at the end. Retaking the quiz does not charge again.

How to read the result

• Key points are the source's load-bearing claims, not the model's own opinions.
• Concepts are ranked high/medium/low importance — use the ranking as a reading map, not as ground truth.
• The concept diagram is Mermaid code with its own copy button; it pastes straight into tools that render Mermaid (Notion, GitHub, Obsidian).

Common errors

• "Could not fetch the page": the URL must be public; pages behind logins or paywalls cannot be fetched. Credits are refunded automatically when the run fails.
• Empty or thin PDF summary: scanned PDFs without a text layer give the model little to work with. Try a text-based PDF.

Limitations

• The quiz cannot be downloaded or exported today, and your score is not saved — take a screenshot if you need a record.
• The result auto-saves to the tool's own history, but there is no export button for the summary; copy the diagram and text manually.
• One source per run; the tool does not merge multiple documents.
