Pillar Content Gap Mapper — User Guide
What does the tool do?
Pillar Content Gap Mapper combines a site crawl with AI visibility data. It shows you:
- Your site's pillar structure (which sections, how many child pages)
- Which pillars are visible in AI search (Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini)
- Which pillars lack AI coverage (the gap matrix)
- AI-generated recommendations to close the gaps
How to use it
- Go to Pillar Content Gap Mapper in the tool menu
- Enter your domain (e.g.
yourbusiness.com) - Enter your brand name
- Add competitors (optional, one domain per line)
- Select analysis language
- Click Map Pillar Gaps
The analysis takes 1-3 minutes depending on site size.
Cost
75 credits per analysis. Includes crawl, Serper API queries, Perplexity and Gemini citation checks, and AI-generated recommendations.
Understanding the results
Summary
- Pillar Sections: Number of identified pillars in the site structure
- AIO Trigger Rate: Percentage of keywords where Google AI Overview appears
- Brand Citation: Percentage of keywords where your brand is cited by at least one AI platform
- SEO-AEO Overlap: Percentage of keywords with coverage in both Google and AI search
Gap Matrix
Each row represents a pillar section:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Covered | Brand is cited in 60%+ of AI queries |
| Partial | Brand is cited in some but not most queries |
| Missing | Brand is not cited in any AI queries |
Gap Score: Higher score = bigger gap. Prioritize pillars with high gap scores first.
AI Visibility Details
Click a row in the gap matrix to see per-keyword details:
- AIO: Cited in Google AI Overview?
- Perplexity: Cited by Perplexity?
- Gemini: Cited by Gemini?
- Source Type: brand-friendly, media-only, e-commerce, or mixed
Recommendations
AI-generated suggestions sorted by priority. Covers:
- What to create for missing pillars
- How to improve partially covered pillars
- Maintenance strategy for covered pillars
Tips
- Run the analysis quarterly to track progress

- Use AI Topic Opportunity Finder to discover specific sub-topics for missing pillars
- Start with pillars that have the most child pages, they have the biggest potential
