Rank Shield
Rank Shield scans a domain's link profile and flags potentially toxic backlinks: every discovered link gets a spam score, you get an overall threat level, and a ready disavow file to upload in Google Search Console.
The data foundation is real — link candidates are found via live search and domain authority comes from OpenPageRank. The spam score is an openly declared heuristic (rules on domain names and patterns), not a verdict; the tool says so itself in the result. As of 2026-08-06 no credits are charged for use, even though the catalog prices the tool at 20 — the stated price may therefore change.
Who this tool is for
Anyone suspecting negative SEO or inheriting a messy link profile, who wants a fast, concrete starting point for a disavow assessment.
Prerequisites
- Signed-in account (freelancer tier in the catalog)
- No credits are charged today
- The domain to scan
How to use it
- Enter the domain and run the scan.
- Read the threat level and review the links with the highest spam scores.
- Assess every candidate manually — heuristics can flag legitimate niche sites.
- Copy or download the disavow file, and upload it in Search Console yourself.
How to read the result
- The threat level summarizes the share of high-spam-score links.
- The spam score per link is rule-based (domain patterns, TLD signals) — treat it as a sorting aid, not a judgment.
- The page title column shows the page's title, not anchor text.
- The disavow file is formatted for Search Console — but submitting it is an irreversible decision you make yourself.
Common errors
- Few or no links found: discovery is search-based and does not capture the full link profile — supplement with your Search Console export.
- A legitimate site got flagged: remove it from the disavow file before uploading; the heuristic errs at the edges.
Limitations
- The "Enable alerts" button does nothing today — no monitoring or alerting happens; the scan is one-off.
- No history; download the file before closing.
- Does not cover the full link profile the way paid backlink indexes do.
