Sitemap Explorer
The tool fetches a domain's sitemap and gives you the overview: how many URLs are declared, how they distribute across sections, and how fresh the content is according to lastmod dates. Useful both for your own site and for understanding a competitor's structure.
Everything is real fetching and parsing. The sitemap (including sitemap indexes with child files) is downloaded and parsed in code. AI is only used to comment on the measured structure.
Who the tool is for
Anyone wanting a quick overview of a site's content structure, their own or a competitor's, without clicking through hundreds of pages.
Prerequisites
- Logged-in account
- 10 credits per exploration
- The domain must have a public sitemap (usually /sitemap.xml)
How to use the tool
- Enter the domain, or paste the sitemap URL directly.
- Click Explore. The tool locates the sitemap, follows any index files and parses the URLs.
How to read the result
- Total URL count declared in the sitemap.
- Section distribution: URLs grouped by first path level (for example /blog/, /products/), showing where the bulk of the content sits.
- Freshness: distribution of lastmod dates where present. Many old dates often mean neglected content.
- The AI comment summarizes the measurements and is labeled as AI content.
- If the sitemap could not be fetched or parsed, the tool says so plainly and the charge is refunded.
Common mistakes
- The domain has no sitemap. Then there is nothing to explore. Check /sitemap.xml manually, or generate one first.
- Sitemap behind bot protection. Some CDN setups block server-side fetching. Try the direct sitemap URL.
Limitations
- The tool shows what the sitemap declares, not what Google has actually indexed.
- lastmod dates are self-reported and can mislead if the CMS updates them automatically.
- Very large sitemaps are processed up to the tool's cap; the cap is stated in the result when it applies.
