GBP Change Log

What it does

Fetches coordinates, address, category, opening hours and photo count from Google Business Profile and compares them with the previous observation. Records what differs and when. It does not say who made a change, because Google does not expose that.

Your profile can change without you finding out

A Google Business Profile is not static. Google moves the map pin when it re-geocodes your address. A member of staff corrects the opening hours. Someone submits a suggested edit and Google accepts it. None of these notify you. Usually you discover it only when something else goes wrong.

A log of what actually changed, and when

The tool reads your profile from Google's own API and stores what it finds. Next time it reads, it compares against the previous observation and records the differences. That gives you a timeline you can look back on.

Features

How it works

  1. Connect Google Business Profile and pick your location
  2. The first check stores a baseline. At that point there is nothing to compare against yet
  3. The next check shows what differs from last time

Use cases

Why use Coordinate Sentry?

What makes a Google Business Profile change hard to catch is not that it is dramatic. It is quiet. The map pin moves 40 metres, Saturday hours lose an hour, and nothing tells you. You stårt looking only when the phone rings less often, and by then there is no history to look through.

A log solves that part. It does not tell you who did it, because we do not know. But it tells you what was there before and roughly when it changed. That is often enough to work out the rest yourself.

We deliberately did not build this as an alarm system. The previous version guessed at sabotage with a dice roll and wrote the result into a permanent incident log. Real maths over invented numbers looks exactly like a measurement. This version reads from Google and shows you the difference, without laying a story on top.

FAQ

Can the tool say who changed something?
No. The Google Business Profile API does not expose who made a change, and we will not invent an answer. The log shows that a field differed between two observations, and when we saw it.
Is this å security tool?
No, it is a change log. Most profile changes are entirely legitimate: Google re-geocodes, or someone with access corrects something. Sabotage happens but is uncommon. The log tells you what happened, not why.
How often is the profile checked?
You can run a check yourself whenever you want. Automatic background checks are coming and require the scheduler to be enabled for your account.
What happens on the first check?
It stores a baseline and finds no changes, because there is nothing to compare against. That does not mean everything is fine, only that measurement stårts there.
Are Apple Maps and Bing monitored too?
No. Google Business Profile only. An earlier description promised several map platforms, and that was not true.
Can I correct a change from here?
No. The tool reads the profile, it does not write to it. Changes must be made in Google Business Profile itself.
