AI Traffic Lens
What it does
Identifies and analyzes traffic from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and other AI search engines — with insights into which pages they send traffic to, user behavior and conversion rate compared to traditional search traffic.
You do not know how much traffic you get from AI search engines — and Google Analytics hides it in "direct" or "referral"
AI search engines are sending increasingly more traffic to websites, but most analytics tools cannot identify this traffic correctly. Google Analytics often classifies traffic from ChatGPT as "direct", from Perplexity as "referral" and from Gemini as "organic" — all mixed together with other traffic. The result is that you have no idea how much AI traffic you actually get, which pages receive it, or how these visitors behave compared to regular search visitors.
- Hidden traffic — AI search engine traffic is hidden in "direct", "referral" and "organic" in Google Analytics, so you cannot separate it
- Unknown value — you do not know if AI traffic converts better or worse than traditional search traffic, so you cannot prioritize correctly
- Missing attribution — you cannot track which AI search engines send the most traffic or which pages they prefer to link to
- No trend data — you do not know if your AI traffic is increasing or decreasing over time, so you cannot measure the effect of AEO actions

Why use AI Traffic Lens?
What you do not measure, you cannot improve. AI traffic is the fastest growing traffic source for most websites, but it is invisible in standard analytics tools. AI Traffic Lens makes this traffic visible — so you can understand it, optimize for it and report it.
AI traffic has different behavior. Visitors from AI search engines behave differently than traditional search visitors — they often have higher intent, spend more time on the page and convert differently. By understanding this behavior you can adapt landing pages and conversion flows to maximize the value of AI traffic.
Data drives decisions. Without concrete numbers on AI traffic it is impossible to justify AEO investments or prioritize between traditional SEO and AEO. AI Traffic Lens gives you the data you need to make informed decisions about where to invest your resources.
FAQ
- How does the tool identify AI traffic?
- AI Traffic Lens uses a combination of referrer analysis, user-agent recognition and traffic patterns to identify visits from AI search engines. We maintain an updated database of all known AI search engine referrers and user-agents, and update it continuously as new AI platforms launch.
- Does this work with Google Analytics 4?
- Yes. AI Traffic Lens integrates directly with Google Analytics 4 and can also be used with our own tracking code for even more detailed AI traffic data. The GA4 integration requires no changes to your website — just connect your account.
- How much AI traffic does a typical website get?
- It varies enormously by industry and content type. Websites with strong informational content (how-to, definitions, comparisons) typically get 3-15% of traffic from AI search engines. Some niches already see over 20%. The trend is strongly increasing for all industries.
- Can I see which questions users asked the AI before they came to my website?
- For some AI search engines (especially Perplexity) we can identify the keyword or question that triggered the visit. For others (like ChatGPT) this information is limited because they do not send keywords in the referrer data. We are continuously working to improve this coverage.
